Monument Valley in Navajo Tation, Arizona is among one of the few remaining heralds of the geologic history of the Wild West. The Monument Valley is not ideally a valley but a large expanse of flat land, punctuated with towering buttes and mesas. These buttes and mesas are known to rise hundreds of feet into the sky. These rock protrusions are the remaining evidence of the deep layers of sandstone that once covered these lands. The rich colored mesas and buttes surrounded by expansive flat arid land are just a natural mastery in abstract art.
